Game and games

Sculptural installation Game and games consists of seven life-size figures hovering over the exhibition area suggesting the water polo game followed by a loud cheering of audience. Figures were made of the recycled consumable material, cardboard egg carton, whose sculptural form with the alteration of the full and the empty was transformed into an entirely new artistic appearance. I refer to the tradition of pop-art assemblage and objects deprived of glamour made of recycled discarded materials. The metamorphosis of this material gives it a new life and it hence loses its primary function and is raised to the level of a work of art. The game, apart from its external image, carries a profound conceptual and sociological charge stemming from the suggested conditionality of the game and the correlation between the mass and the individual. By participating in the spectacle of the game, individuals subject their identity, such as it is, to the crowd behaviour which is unpredictable and volatile.
