DIMENSIONS OF IDENTITY

The work cycle "Dimensions of Identity" explores the complexity of contemporary life through the lens of identity fluidity. Inspired by the poetics of street art, the works presented make visible the layers of the physical and virtual world in which the boundaries of identity are constantly being redefined. In this context, the dimensions of identity encompass different levels through which identity is formed and expressed – from individual characteristics to social and cultural imprints to digital representations. Each object represents a multi-layered reality and invites the viewer to reflect on both the superficial and the more complex approaches to current existential issues in the context of modern society, where the search for identity is complicated by various mental and social barriers.

The formation of relief forms on wood is not only an aesthetic choice, but has a symbolic function that encourages reflection on the inner layers of identity that are often hidden and difficult to access. This approach is emphasised by the perforation of the painted surfaces, which challenges the traditional painting space. The perforation introduces a new dimension into the artwork – the dimension behind the painting, in which the structure of the epidermis of another, non-painted surface is integrated into the pictorial space. This creates a spatial and symbolic connection between the inner and outer layers of identity and suggests the question of what is hidden "behind things"." In this context, the space around the painting becomes an integral part of the artwork, highlighting the importance of the space "behind the painting" as a key to understanding the multidimensionality of identity.

The paint is applied with an even tonal value, creating a contemplative atmosphere that reflects the existential nature of the times we live in. Cool violet tones and the use of the achromatic spectrum help to create an introspective atmosphere that points to the transience of identity structures.

The "Dimensions of Identity" cycle not only explores surface aesthetics, but also addresses deeper existential questions related to the construction of identity in contemporary society. Through a series of carefully considered visual elements, the exhibition invites an introspective exploration of one’s own layers of identity while opening up a space for reflection on broader social and cultural dynamics that shape perceptions of identity today.
