Ars sacra

The Ars sacra cycle comprises works made during the post graduate study Ars sacra at the Academy of Fine Arts of the University of Mostar under the tutelage of full professor Anto Kajinić. My encounter with the sacred themes opened up the possibility to explore and perforate the surface that was no longer self-sufficient but incorporated the “in front” and “behind” space. Sacred themes require specific iconographic determinants to be taken into account, while at the same time leaving enough room to dwell on a selected topic, which gives artists the freedom to express their own attitude on the displayed topic. That is when the cycle of sacred paintings was created and displayed at the Master’s Degree show at the Franciscan gallery in Široki Brijeg.
