Blue scream

In Blue Scream, I begin with my strong personal connection to the sea, which I see as a space of beauty and life, but also as a space increasingly marked by human activity. I construct the installation as a series of objects suspended in the darkened space above the aquarium, creating the impression of fragments of the deep sea. Against a dark blue background, stylised fluorescent drawings emerge, evoking the organic world of the underwater environment through their intensity of light and colour. Only on closer inspection do the relief-like contours of actual discarded plastic, sealed inside vacuum bags, become visible beneath this visually appealing surface. The plastic thus becomes a visible trace of human presence in the sea, but also a warning about its ubiquity and the consequences that inevitably return from the marine ecosystem into our own lives. An important part of the work is the music by composer Srđan Berdović, Requiem Aeternam for solo vibraphone, which, together with the light, shapes the atmosphere of the installation and emphasises its meditative and cautionary dimension.
